Are Sugar Gliders the right pet for you?
Do you know what it takes to properly care for a Sugar Glider?
When buying a Sugar Glider you must be committed to caring for your new friend for 8-15 years.
-
Sugar Gliders can become aggressive when passed from owner to owner.
-
Can you provide a large cage for your glider?
-
Do you have time to play with your glider daily?
-
Do you have the time & money to provide quality nutrition for your glider? (fresh or frozen fruits & vegetables, protein, and calcium).
Just like caring for any animal, you must be responsible when you commit to owning a Sugar Glider. At times is can be fairly time consuming. Your hard work is well worth it!
The more time you put into caring and bonding with your glider the more you will get out of your relationship with them.

Something to think about......
-
Gliders and not the best pets for young children.
-
They are very fragile & sensitive to emotion.
-
If you are a light sleeper do not keep them near or in your room.
-
Gliders do make noise. They will bark, sneeze, hiss & crab.
-
Gliders cages can smell, but if you frequently clean their cage, you should have very little to no smell.
-
Male or Female?
-
One glider or more?
-
How much time do you have to spend on your glider (preparing meals, cleaning cages & toys, trimming nails, and bonding).
-
Do you have a place in your home for a large cage?
Basic Requirements
-
Gliders must have a large cage. The bigger the cage the better. My opinion for your cage size should be at least 4ft tall & 3ft wide (4'X3') Sugar Gliders need to have space to run, jump & glide.
-
We highly recommend a "sugar glider safe" wheel. You will find that they love wheels and it provides a great source of energy release for them in their cage.
-
If you only own one glider, I highly suggest spending least 4 hours with him/her a day. Having many toys and puzzles in their cage for mental stimulation.
-
2 Sugar Gliders are recommended (they are very social, and they feel safe when they have a cage mate or colony).
-
Food: Protein, Fresh fruit & vegetables daily.
